Our Orcas Island vacation began and ended with a seaplane ride from Lake Union Airport in Seattle to Deer Harbor, Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands.
Wild Bill Daniels was our host.
The scenery was amazing, and we went fishing, saw birds, and hung out with Wild Bill, who shared his colorful perspective on island life. . . ! From the top of Mt. Constitution, we had a clear view of Mt. Baker. The interior was almost as beautiful as the ocean.
On our last day, we were fog-bound waiting for the seaplane. Just as our seaplane landed, Wild Bill went out sailing in his sailboat.
But it all worked out and we got on the seaplane. Once in the air we took a few more pictures of islands and fog.
(That last photo was a bad-but-good picture of Terry & me that got tweaked in Photoshop. . . I like it for some reason, even though the lighting's bad. . . we do look a bit rough around the edges though!) It's a gorgeous part of the world. . . likely we'll go back someday. Enjoy! |
