Learning the Birds began in early 2000 as a column in The Canadian Record, an award-winning newspaper that appears on Canadian, Texas, newsstands  every Thursday. The Canadian Record is also available online at www.canadianrecord.com.

 


 

Texas Prairie Rivers underwrites the radio version of Learning the Birds on High Plains Public Radio. Texas Prairie Rivers is a regional venture that celebrates the natural resources of the Texas Panhandle, encouraging appreciation of wildlife through nature tourism, education, and conservation. High Plains Public Radio is an NPR affiliate serving a five state area in the High Plains, including Kansas, Nebraska, eastern Colorado, and the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle. HPPR has broadcast studios in Garden City, Kansas, and Amarillo, Texas.Canadian's River Valley Pioneer Museum offers historic interpretation of the settlement period in the eastern Texas Panhandle, with permanent as well as rotating exhibits from a variety of collections.

Texas Nature Writers, an Online Review of Nature Writing from Texas, is a great place to read some of the best nature writing in the Lone Star State.
